Our Philosophy

Our Approach

At Wee Step Child Care Society (WSCCS), our current philosophy is grounded in the Reggio Emilia constructivist approach, a hallmark in early-childhood education for over forty years. This philosophy holds that each child is strong, capable, and full of potential, fostering a collaborative learning environment where children are esteemed as researchers alongside educators.

In alignment with the Government of Alberta’s Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework, we are enthusiastic about the resonance with the Reggio philosophy in the new framework. In response, WSCCS is in the process of modernizing our programs to align with the framework while preserving our Reggio roots. Collaborating with institutions like MacEwan University and Norquest, we provide student internships to support this evolution. These internships serve a dual purpose: fulfilling student practicum requirements and offering our educators fresh ideas aligned with the new Alberta curriculum.
